Well the PricewaterhouseCoopers North Pole Expedition is semi underway. I left Sydney late Tuesday afternoon for London and yes it is sunny. I’m here to speak at a conference on Saturday morning before flying on to Norway the following week.

I appeared on the Today show on channel nine early Tuesday morning where I was interviewed about the upcoming expedition, they were quite interested in the trip and they will be doing some phone crosses to me while I’m out on the ice. If you didn’t catch the interview its on line on the Today Show’s web site.

My flight was interesting to say the least, we were delayed for 2 hours in Sydney after boarding the plane because of lightning strikes around the airport which meant I missed my connecting flight in Singapore. Lucky there was another flight leaving an hour later which they managed to squeeze me on. I arrived in London in the early hours of Wednesday morning and so did the 6 pieces of luggage that I checked in so I was stoked to say the least. I have to thank Qantas for waving my excess baggage for the trip it was a huge help. I just hope they might upgrade me for my flights home……..!

I have hit the ground running since arriving yesterday with several meetings in relation to my speaking engagement on Saturday and it feels like I have been here a week already. I crashed pretty early last night with the jet lag hitting me about 6pm but I did manage to get a full nights sleep before another meeting in the center of London early this morning.

Its great to be back in the cold weather and its only a taste of whats to come over the next 7 weeks so stay tuned as the journey begins.

Less then a week to go

Well this time next week ill be well under way almost touching down in London and I really can’t believe just how quick the last few months have gone.

It has been another frantic week running around Sydney picking up last minuet equipment. I pretty much have everything now except my new Canon video camera gear which should arrive tomorrow. Canon have agreed to help me out with all my need’s and I want say thanks for all their support. I also received my new compasses and hand held GPS from Silva this week too, they will definitely help me head in the right direction….North!

My training has slowed up over the last week as I near departure I always taper things off around now trying to avoid any injuries so close to leaving, although I am looking forward to some running in the cold streets of London over the next 2 weeks. I speak at a conference in London on the 1st of March which I have been getting ready for this week as well. It’s my first of hopefully many UK jobs down the track.

I have a few media commitments lined up for later in the week and I will announce them as soon as I know the exact times.

An Interesting Week

This week has again been extremely busy and may I say strangely interesting. Late last week I was confirmed to speak at a conference in London on March 1st which was great news. However this means I now have to fly out on Feb 26th almost 2 full weeks earlier then my planned departure thus making my tight schedule even tighter.

On Wednesday I had a photo shoot for the PricewaterhouseCoopers 2007 Annual Review which was a little strange to say the least. Picture me dressed in full Polar outfit including boots, gloves and fur lined hood standing half way up a sand dune at Kurnell in the middle of summer. If you know the sand dunes at Kurnell you will know that they are frequented quite regularly by local football teams and other groups who use them for training purposes. As you can surely imagine there were a number of odd looks being thrown my way throughout the afternoon. All and all it was a fun yet very hot experience!

Add some speaking jobs into the mix and a continuous stream of gear arrivals and it has been another hectic week.

25 days to departure the pressure is on now.
