Tromso Norway
I have arrived in Tromso Norway approx a 2 hour flight north from Oslo. I am sitting in my hotel room looking across a fjord at the most spectacular snow covered mountains as the last of the pink evening light illuminates the top of these amazing peaks.
I awoke this morning at the unpleasant our of 3am and was picked up and driven to Heathrow on a very wet and wild London morning, I meet Eric and Colin in the terminal after they arrived from Australia and New Zealand respectively and we headed off for Oslo and then on to Tromso. Unfortunately both Eric and Colin were missing baggage at Oslo so we were running around trying to locate it. We have been told it will arrive tomorrow so fingers crossed.
The flight into Tromso is with out a doubt one of the most spectacular on the planet and we were blessed with an amazingly clear day as we made our approach to the airport. There are literally hundreds of snow covered island around the coast and they all have a thick cover of snow as we slowly venture out of winter. We are here for tonight and get our connecting flight to Longyearbyen tomorrow morning which is another 2 hours north and is currently -15 degrees.
Again It felt great as we left the plane into the crisp cool air and I really started to get excited about the coming months today as we ventured further North. I really have no idea where I get this attraction these cold climates but I have to admit that it feels like home and im so happy to be back here again.
So it’s now time for a quick bite to eat and an early night.
