As I mentioned a few weeks ago I had been putting into place some big news and finally after some hard work and late night phone call’s I can now make my move to London official. I am planning to relocate to the UK for a few months beginning in November. I have booked an important speaking engagement in London on the 13th of November and I will stay on for a few more months before heading over to New York for some important meetings.

I see this move as the next step in my career and I am very excited about the future and what it holds. This is by no way a permanent move though and I will be back in Australia in 2009. However if all goes to plan I will be looking at spending time each year speaking in Europe and America.

Well the PricewaterhouseCoopers North Pole Expedition is semi underway. I left Sydney late Tuesday afternoon for London and yes it is sunny. I’m here to speak at a conference on Saturday morning before flying on to Norway the following week.

I appeared on the Today show on channel nine early Tuesday morning where I was interviewed about the upcoming expedition, they were quite interested in the trip and they will be doing some phone crosses to me while I’m out on the ice. If you didn’t catch the interview its on line on the Today Show’s web site.

My flight was interesting to say the least, we were delayed for 2 hours in Sydney after boarding the plane because of lightning strikes around the airport which meant I missed my connecting flight in Singapore. Lucky there was another flight leaving an hour later which they managed to squeeze me on. I arrived in London in the early hours of Wednesday morning and so did the 6 pieces of luggage that I checked in so I was stoked to say the least. I have to thank Qantas for waving my excess baggage for the trip it was a huge help. I just hope they might upgrade me for my flights home……..!

I have hit the ground running since arriving yesterday with several meetings in relation to my speaking engagement on Saturday and it feels like I have been here a week already. I crashed pretty early last night with the jet lag hitting me about 6pm but I did manage to get a full nights sleep before another meeting in the center of London early this morning.

Its great to be back in the cold weather and its only a taste of whats to come over the next 7 weeks so stay tuned as the journey begins.

I arrived home from my brief yet exciting visit to New Zealand’s South Island last week after 10 days of jumping off bridges, flying helicopters, whitewater rafting and hiking amazing glaciers. It was easily one of the most beautiful places I have visited and I really can’t wait to get back over there next winter for some snowboarding.

I ducked up to the Hunter Valley to speak at an MBF conference on Friday morning which was my last presentation for the year and I am now fully focused on my up coming polar expedition in March 2008, there is always so much to do in preparing for an expedition and at times I often feel overwealmed but I really do enjoy watching these things come to life and it makes me realise just how lucky I am to do this for living.

I will officially announce my plans next week so you will have to wait a little longer for the finer details but I can say that I will be back up in the high Arctic!!

Training is now the priority and even over the Xmas period I plan to be working hard. I have a photo shoot on Coogee beach on Tuesday morning and I have been told they want to see me dragging my sled across the soft sand. I always get some strange looks when training like this but it’s as close as I can get to simulating dragging my sled across the ice so I can put up with the stares. I will post some photo’s next week

Another Busy Week

I received confirmation of a naming right sponsor for my next expedition on Monday, news which as you can imagine I was over the moon with. I can’t say anymore just yet as there are still a few bits and pieces to be finalised however I will be officially announcing things very soon so stay tuned for more.

On Tuesday I was invited to speak at the Telstra top executive conference at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney about my North Pole expeditions. I have worked closely over the last month with the Telstra Senior Executive team and the day was a great success.

Wednesday saw me fly down to Melbourne to speak at the National Young Leaders Day at the Melbourne Convention Centre. Also speaking on the day was AFL legend Glan Manton, Mike Martin the GM of The Halogen Foundation, Dr Michael Hewitt-Gleeson Co founder of The School Of Thinking and Olympic Gold Medal winning swimmer Brooke Hanson. The day was MC’d by TV personality Wes Denning and with 2000 people in the audience the day had a great vibe and I personally had a ball.
